Admissions Policy

Admission to our school, which is under Church of Ireland management and the patronage of the Diocesan Bishop, is considered in the following order, subject to the discretion of the Board of Management. Children must have attained their fourth birthday by March I" in the proposed year of

admission.

  1. Baptised children of the Church of Ireland within the parish and its recognised catchment area', and to baptised children of other Anglican churches, and churches in communion with the Church of Ireland and others who are regular attendees at the parish church.
  2. Children who are members of churches in full ecumenical partnership with the Church of Ireland (i.e. Methodist, Presbyterian, and other member churches of the Irish Council of Churches or the Conference of European Churches)
  3. Siblings of children already in attendance.
  4. Children of inter-church families within the parish where the non-Church of Ireland party does not come under Category 2.
  5. Children from other Christian traditions
  6. Children of other religions, or none.

Excluding categories 1 and 2, applicants from the other categories will be accepted where places allow. The admission of children from a different background to those listed above is a matter for the Board of Management, which also recognises its responsibility for children with Special Educational Needs in accordance with Section 15 (d) of the Education Act 1998.

However, the Department of Education and Science expects the Church of Ireland to allocate according to its own criteria and available resources, and to provide a context in which children can develop mind, body and spirit within the traditions of the Church of Ireland.

It should be noted that the receipt and return of an enrolment form does not guarantee a place for each applicant; neither does the enrolment of one child guarantee enrolment of a sibling at a later date.
